This is the fourth and final session of the "Metta and Compassion" daylong. It includes a guided karuna meditation, some explanation, question-and-answer with both Gina Sharpe and Sharon Salzberg, and closes with a sharing of the merit.
This day focuses on the development of lovingkindness and compassion, both for ourselves and for others. These qualities of the heart diminish fear and isolation, and further our understanding of interconnectedness. Through meditation practice, dialogue, and discourse, we will explore these qualities together. Suitable for both beginning and more experienced meditators.

When we attempt to extend metta (loving-kindness) to difficult people, things get interesting. In order to expand our capacity to love, we must strengthen our motivation to do so and work with obstacles which may arise. Through reflecting on the value of metta in our families and communities, we find the courage to undertake this spiritual challenges. Includes guided meditation.

This series of talks and guided meditations explores the development of the practices of both Lovingkindness and Compassion, with particular emphasis on the radical possibilities of Awakening that they bring. Through these practices we come to develop deep and beautiful qualities of heart as a real resource both for ourselves and the world, and also open ourselves to the profound and liberating understandings that can emerge from this path of love.
