Retreat Dharma Talks

A Path for Here & Now

What inspires and motivates us to explore an intentional way of living — a path of practice (or ‘spiritual path’) — and how do we sustain it and keep it alive?

The Buddha offered a teaching called the Eightfold Path — a path of wise and compassionate living — as something to be lived and experienced by each of us directly for ourselves.

This retreat we explore through our reflections and meditation how within our personal and collective life situations these timeless teachings can offer a meaningful and caring way of living in the world.

The retreat also includes some optional mindful movement (Qigong).

The Buddha called the noble eightfold path the middle way. The middle way stands for a basic principle that can be applied to many areas of our life. Our relationship to sense pleasures, energy, emotions, social responsibilities and hope vs. fear. It means not getting caught in dualities or polarities, not fixating on any extreme, but finding creative ways to deal with the complexities and ambiguities of human life.
