Skill in Calm and Happiness - Exploring the Practice of Samadhi (online retreat)

Samadhi, meaning meditative calm or collectedness of mind, is a valuable skill that can be cultivated in meditation practice. Samadhi allows us to experience states of joy, happiness and calm that are not conditioned by outside sources but borne out of meditation. These qualities deeply nourish the heart and mind and are important resources in life. Samadhi practice also supports insight in many ways, and when followed wholeheartedly with commitment, can lead to the jhanas (states of meditative absorption).

During this online retreat we explore meditation practices that support and encourage samadhi, and attitudes and ways of working in meditation that can enable the deepening of samadhi. We follow and honour Rob Burbea’s beautiful approach to samadhi practice, which emphasises sensitivity, responsiveness and turning toward wellbeing. As an integral part of this journey we explore how to skilfully meet hindrances and difficulties that visit our hearts and minds.
