Jhānas (Meditative Absorptions) Retreat for Experienced Students

The jhānas are the deep states of tranquil concentration that the Buddha taught for the development of insight. Bhante Gunaratana will explain what the scriptures and ancient commentaries have to say about these states. He will also give practical advice how to enter into them and use them in meditation practice. Sittings during this course may last one hour or longer. There will be an opportunity to observe the eight monastic precepts, which include abstaining from food after noon each day. An exception will be made for those who prefer to eat in the late afternoon - a tea meal will be served.
